Gemma-Leigh James won silver in the Best Female Presenter category at the Community Radio Awards 2019 a year after being nominated for Best Newcomer.
Gemma-Leigh presents Breakfast and the 90s edition of the Afternoon Gold ‘decades’ show. She has taken part in all of the station’s big outside broadcasts, including Pub in the Park, the Marlow Town Regatta, and the Marlow Carnival. She’s also interviewed several celebrities, including Russell Brand, Tim Brooke-Taylor and Ross Kemp to name a few. She's previously won an award for her Daredevil broadcasts which have included, the Gravity Grand Prix where she reported live as co-pilot in one of the competitors carts as she sped round corners and chicanes at speeds up to 30mph, testing her fear of heights by jumping off the leap of faith, a 20 meter heigh platform while broadcasting and conquering her terror of snakes by interviewing one while wrapped around her.
She said: “I’m amazed and honoured. I’ve only been doing radio for a couple of years, and I was up against some real pros some with a with lifetime experience. I absolutely love what I do, and I’m so proud of what I’ve achieved. It just show's if you have passion and dedication you can achieve anything in life.”
Sam Sethi also a presenter on Marlow FM was also up for an award and won silver in the newcomer category for weekly technology show and a monthly R&B soul show.
This years ceremony was held in Barry South Wales, both Gemma-Leigh and Sam collected their awards in person.
